There is a wide range of lamp types available on the market. In industrial applications we differentiate between the following four types of UV lamps:
Mercury lamps (Hg lamps); we differentiate between
These bulbs are delivered as pure mercury lamps or as doped lamps. Doping materials include for example iron (Fe), gallium (Ga) or other substances; this enhancement is responsible for the emission spectrum of the bulb.
In addition we differentiate between lamps with and without electrodes.
In industrial applications the pure mercury medium pressure bulb is the most commonly used bulb (> 90%). The length of the lamp may vary from a few centimeters up to more then two meters.
Low-pressure lamps are used for example in neon tubes, in cosmetic applications and in the field of security applications (testing banknotes and so on).
