    UV LED

    LED technology has found the way into more and more sectors of UV curing especially in the last 2-3 years. This was,
    among other things, due to the low power and relatively high price of UV LED. Recently, however, very powerful
    UV LED are available at competitive prices on the market. This opens up several new possibilities for use in industrial
    applications.

    UV-LED offer many advantages to conventional UV curing with mercury bulbs, some of these are listed below:

    Advantages of UV LED Technology

    • fast on / off switch, no cooling time
    • no IR radiation, therefore low heat development
    • long life cycle
    • Mercury free
    • low energy consumption
    • Adaptation to different geometries possible
    • ....

    LED for UV curing applications emit nearly monochromatic radiation or nearly monochromatic light (> 380 nm).
    They are available amongst others with following wavelengths:

    Wavelengths of UV LED

    • 420 nm (VIS)
    • 405 nm (VIS)
    • 395 nm (VIS)
    • 385 nm
    • 375 nm
    • 365 nm
    • ....

    The UV-LED technology is supplied in the form of spotlights (e. g. "Bluepoints"), as well as an LED array for the
    irradiation of area substrates.

    Applications of UV-LED units are among the aerea "curing of adhesives and sealing compounds" as well
    the use in the wood, furniture and in the printing industry.
